Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – If the weather October 5 is as beautiful as it was for Thursday morning’s preview news conference, this year’s cemetery walk – put on by the Sangamon County Historical Society and Oak Ridge Cemetery will be perfect.

One of the seven Oak Ridge denizens featured will be the Rev. Frederick Strechfuss, portrayed by Andy VanDeVoort.

“I think to know Frederick Srtechfuss’ importance, you have to also know the story of the Concordia Theological Seminary, which trained Lutheran pastors for almost 100 years here.” said VandeVoort (pictured), in costume for the news conference. “Frederick served as a professor there for 32 years and at times served as president. Actually, he served in all the offices at the college.” Concordia was located at Twelfth and Carpenter Streets.”

The walk is free of charge, but they will accept donations and also sell refreshments. It’s Sunday, October 5, from noon to 3:30 p.m.
