Two dead, four injured, after Morgan County car accident

Jacksonville, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Two people are dead, and four more were injured following an accident Saturday in Morgan County near Jacksonville.

Morgan County Coroner Marcy Patterson says the crash happened around 2:15 p.m. of U.S. Highway 67 and Woodson Winchester Road.

Illinois State Police say four other people were injured.  Two were airlifted to hospitals, while two others were transported by ambulance.  Two vehicles were involved in the crash.  No other details are being released at this time.

Patterson says the names of the victims will not be released until next of kin are properly notified.

State Troopers say the area of the fatal crash was closed for about six hours while the investigation took place.

The Morgan County Coroner and Illinois State Police are still investigating the crash.
