Three arrested in Springfield shooting

Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – On Tuesday, Springfield police arrested three individuals following a shooting that left a 39-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds to his lower body. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. in the 1200 block of S. 15th St., where officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert and found the injured man. He was transported to Springfield Memorial Hospital, where his injuries were deemed non-life-threatening.

Police pursued and stopped a vehicle seen fleeing the area, leading to the arrests of the following:

  • Cedric L. Porter, 31, of Springfield, charged with aggravated battery/discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm without a FOID, and reckless conduct.
  • Natasha M. Jones, 32, of Memphis, Tennessee, charged with mob action, aggravated battery, and aggravated fleeing and eluding.
  • Mariah L. Chatman, 29, of Springfield, charged with mob action and aggravated battery.

The shooting is believed to be connected to an earlier disturbance at a local business.
