Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The Muni is hosting an audition workshop this weekend. For those interested in becoming an on-stage actor in one of the Muni’s many great shows, this would be your perfect opportunity to get a jump start into acting.

Luke Busboom, publicity chair for The Muni, spoke on the WTAX Morning Newswatch about the upcoming audition workshop, set to take place at the Hoogland Center for the Arts this Saturday, January 31, at 10 am.

During this workshop, according to Busboom, there will not be any acting or traditional auditioning involved, this workshop is more informative to the potential actor. “It’ll be a time for all of the different staffs from each show to explain what their vision is with their production, some of the specific rules, and what they need as far as singing styles or dancing abilities. After that, they will all go into a room where you can go up and ask them specific questions to learn exactly what you want to know to prep for auditions”

Becoming an on-stage actor may be easier than you think. Most people would imagine a lot of experience or even training may be required.  “For just acting in general and just being on stage, the biggest thing that we look for is people who are just themselves. We love to see everyone’s unique personalities, so whatever flair you can add just so we can get to know you better is great”

There is set to be 5 shows for the upcoming 2026 summer show season, all of which are waiting for a select few talented individuals to take part in them.
