Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – If you are looking for a way to easier access DMV services in Illinois there will be another Mobile DMV coming to downtown Springfield this weekend.

Juan Huerta, from the Illinois Secretary of State‘s office, spoke on the WTAX Morning Newswatch about the upcoming Mobile DMV that will be headed to the Downtown YMCA off of Fourth Street this Friday where they will be running DMV services from 10 am until 2pm

Some may wonder, what services does the Mobile DMV offer, and would it be easier than going to a brick-and-mortar DMV?

For some yes, it is much simpler. The Mobile DMV has proven to be more helpful for senior citizens and even students who have busy schedules, to take care of getting their license renewed, or updated stickers for their license plates. You can even get yourself one of the new ‘Real-ID’s’ there also.

In his interview, Huerta states “The goal is to go to the communities and provide services to residents of Illinois. This makes it easier on those community members to get faster customer service, and also makes it easier on the main facilities, where they would be less busy since some would be at the mobile location.”

According to Huerta, they now have 150 new Mobile DMV Locations down state.

Secretary of State, Alexi Giannoulias, has been also trying to streamline the process for getting a Real-ID and this is just one way to make that easier, but it is also a great way to assist those communities who may not have an easy way to get to a normal DMV.

An extend list of the services they provide at the Mobile DMV include first time applications, renewals, duplicate’s or corrected Drivers License’s as well as State ID Card’s, whether standard or Real-ID’s. You can also get updated vehicle registration and licenses plate stickers.

Written testing or behind the wheel tests are not available at the Mobile DMV.

Residents will need to bring all of the required documentation, when they go to 601 North 4th Street, Springfield IL 62702 on Friday, December 19 between 10 am and 2 pm for your.
