Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Picture it.  Sicily.  Or, a touch of Miami — including “Shady Pines” and the “Rusty Anchor” — will be in Springfield this November.

According to a news release, the University of Illinois Springfield Performing Arts Center says the popular stage play Golden Girls:  The Laughs Continue will be performed November 14.  Tickets range from $39.75-$100 and will be on sale this Friday, May 29.  A presale for “2nd Act” campaign donors is Thursday, May 28.

In this performance, “We find Sophia out on bail after being busted by the DEA for running a drug ring for retirees. Blanche and Rose have founded CreakN, a thriving sex app for seniors. And Dorothy is trying to hold it all together with help from a new (much) younger sex-crazed lover,” according to the release.

Golden Girls:  The Laughs Continue is performed by Chris Davis as Dorothy, Vince Kelley as Blanche, Adam Graber as Sophia, and Tommy Favorite as Stan.

The Springfield show is, so far, the only Illinois stop as part of a fall tour starting September 30 and continuing through November 28 — “traveling down the road and back again,” if you will.

The original “Golden Girls” television series produced 180 episodes over seven seasons, and still remains a favorite of those who prefer to watch reruns on television and streaming platforms.
