Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A legendary rock group will be a part of some of the festivities in Springfield celebrating the 100th anniversary year of Route 66.

According to a news release from the Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byway, STARSHIP featuring Mickey Thomas will perform at the byway’s Statewide Conference and Route 66 Centennial Celebration Wednesday, November 11, at the “Motordome” inside Route 66 Motorheads Bar & Grill, Museum & Entertainment Complex.  Tickets for the show, which are now on sale at this website, are $150 per person, and space is said to be limited.

“This is an extraordinary occasion, and we’re excited to bring together the Route 66 community to celebrate the 100-year history of the Mother Road, recognize its champions, and share its enduring legacy with the world,” said Casey Claypool, Executive Director, Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byway, in a news release.

STARSHIP is known for such hits as “We Built This City,” “Sara,” and “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now, among others.

According to the news release, the Route 66 Centennial Celebration begins at 6pm and will also include food and festivities.
