Springfield man escapes police custody at Springfield Memorial Hospital, search underway

Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A Springfield man, arrested for multiple out-of-state warrants, escaped custody Monday morning after being treated at Springfield Memorial Hospital. Law enforcement is searching for 25-year-old Deandre O. Perkins.

Perkins reportedly requested medical attention, citing a possible asthma attack, and was transported to the hospital. Shortly after his release from the hospital, Perkins fled from officers, escaping on foot. Multiple law enforcement agencies are actively canvassing the area in an effort to locate him.

Perkins is described as a Black male, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing approximately 160 pounds, with long dreadlocks. He was last seen wearing all black clothing.

Police urge anyone with information on Perkins’ whereabouts to contact Springfield Police at 217-788-8311 or make an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 217-788-8427.
