Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW)Head Start, operated by the Springfield Urban League, will be hosting a 60th birthday celebration at the Kidzeum of Health and Science on Sunday October 26th, and admission will be completely free.

Springfield’s Head Start Program Director, Harold Pursey, was interviewed on this morning’s WTAX Morning Newswatch, and explained several updates on their growth as a program.

From the technological advances they have undergone to keep up with the times, to the grants, and volunteers of the community, Pursey explains this has helped them grow quite rapidly.

Harlod explains right now the enrollment in their program is reaching just above 400, and in the next decade he would love to see this number grow to 800. Pursey shares they have two locations in Springfield and one in Jacksonville. To find out more about these locations and the program you can click here.
