Sheriff: 3 juveniles killed in overnight crash in Christian Co.

Taylorville, IL (WAND) – Three juveniles were killed in a crash just south of Taylorville early Tuesday morning, according to the Christian County Sheriff’s Office.

The names of the juveniles have not been released.

The sheriff’s department said they were called to County Road 1400 East near 1100 North around 2:15 a.m. Tuesday. The area is just west of Taylorville Lake.

Police said only one vehicle was involved in the crash. The department has not released additional details about what caused the crash.

It’s not clear how old the victims were.

Taylorville Community Schools said it is providing additional school counselors at all of its buildings. It released a statement online:

We are writing to you today with a heavy heart regarding a tragedy that has impacted our school community. During this challenging time, our thoughts are with those families experiencing pain and loss. 

Our community is strongest when we stand together, and we encourage everyone to keep these affected families in your thoughts as they navigate this immense difficulty.
