SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Illinois is home of some fantastic food spots. And now there is now a book about all about it.

“Unique Eats and Eateries of Illinois” was co-authored by Carrie Steinweg and Cindy Ladage, who are also cousins. They were guests on the WTAX Morning Newswatch discussing their publication.

The book includes almost every food you could imagine getting in Illinois, from Chicago to Springfield to Southern Illinois, and also Route 66.

“We had to narrow it down to 84 pages and we split it in half,” said Steinweg
”So that was a was a difficult job, but we tried to make sure geographically we were covering all parts of the state. “

“We literally ate our way through Illinois,” said Ladage.

With dining locations on Route 66, Steinweg explains how she thinks this a good travel guide for the mother road.

“Every place has their own vibe. Anywhere you go in the state, you’re going to find something wonderful,” “Any place you go, you just need to know where to look and that’s where this book comes in handy for people who are going to travel.
It’s a great guidebook. It also has 10 locations on Route 66. With this being the 100th anniversary of the mother road, it’s a great travel companion for Route 66.”

The book is available at Cozy Dog Drive-In, and through other retailers. It’s also available directly from the publisher, Reedy Press.

Ladage will be in the area signing copies of the book as soon as Saturday, including in Litchfield, after being in Springfield last weekend.
