‘Rookie of the Year’ star to be at Lucky Horseshoes’ ‘Legends Classic’

Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The star of the 1993 comedy “Rookie of the Year” is being called up from the bullpen one more time.

The Springfield Lucky Horseshoes say actor Thomas Ian Nicholas will participate in the annual “Legends Classic,” scheduled for June 20, 2026, at Robin Roberts Stadium.

Nicholas played “Henry Rowengartner,” a “flame-throwing” pitcher in the film, and will be suiting up for the Chicago Cubs one more time, featuring other Major League legends either playing for the Cubs or the St. Louis Cardinals.  Former Cardinals star Jason Isringhausen is also scheduled to play

After the game, Nichoas and his band, the Thomas Nicholas Band, will perform.
