Pritzker: Trump’s Reiner remarks ‘terrible’

Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – President Trump got Gov. JB Pritzker’s attention Monday, when he suggested the deaths of Rob and Michele Reiner were a result of what Trump says is the hatred Rob Reiner has generated by being anti-Trump.

The Reiners’ son is the suspect in their stabbing deaths.

“Yet another example of the terrible nature of our President when he is attacking Rob and Michele Reiner,” Pritzker said at an unrelated event Monday. “I was with them four days ago. These are some terrific people. They care deeply about people. They have done so much for early childhood development, early childhood education.”

Trump said on social media that actor-director Reiner suffered from “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

And the governor was asked to comment on his signing last week of a bill setting up a process for medical aid in dying. The governor did not hold a ceremony for that bill-signing.

“It’s a very difficult issue, frankly,” said the governor. “I heard from a lot of people on both sides of this. I will say I think the vast majority of people have seemed to have favored giving people who are in pain at the end of life a choice, but I also understand that for some people it’s part of a religious, moral issue around their faith, and I listened to that, because I know how important that is.”
