UPDATED: Wm. Van’s Cafe will not be changing ownership

Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – UPDATED: On Saturday, Wm. Van’s Cafe announced the establishment will not be transitioning to news ownership, despite an earlier announcement. On Facebook, the cafe posted “After careful consideration and discussions with our team, we will not be proceeding with the sale as initially planned. Our goal is and always has been to provide the best possible experience for our customers and community and we will carry on that mission as Wm. Van’s Cafe.”

(4/16/25) A popular cafe in Springfield is changing hands and getting a new name rooted in Springfield’s history.  Wm. Van’s Cafe, owned by Conn’s Hospitality Group, is transitioning to a new owner, Dalton Ingram, former owner of The Carriage House.

A post on the Wm. Van’s Cafe Facebook page indicates the cafe will be temporarily close on Sunday, April 27 and reopen Thursday, May 1 as Mary Todd’s. The post states Ingram shares the Conn family’s passion for historic revitalization and preservation and the cafe will continue to serve high-quality coffee and delicious food.
