UPDATE: Sangamon County coroner Jim Allmon says the victim is James Hoskins, 40, Springfield.

Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A motorcyclist is dead after a crash on Springfield’s north end Friday afternoon. Just before 1 p.m., Springfield police responded to the area of North Dirksen Parkway and Sam’s Place for a report of a crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle.

SPD reports an off-duty Springfield firefighter was administering CPR to the driver of the motorcycle when they arrived at the scene.

The motorcyclist was transported to Springfield Memorial Hospital but did not survive. The driver of the vehicle was taken to HSHS St. John’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
