More than 3,000 without power in Springfield after morning storms move through

Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – City Water Light and Power crews are responding to a number of power outages with severe storms in the Springfield area this morning. Outages are currently at over 3,300 customers (8:50 a.m.) across nine circuits mostly on the north end of Springfield. Electric Dispatch and crews will review damage and repair areas and work to restore power to all customers as quickly and safely as possible.

Major areas affected include:

-From Dirksen Pkwy. to N 5th St. and Monument Ave. S of Sangamon Ave.

-Area N of Lanphier High School

-Areas around Enos Park and Gehrmann Park

-Areas S and W of the State Fairgrounds

-Area around Capital Airport and N of Rt 4 to Val E Vue

FOLLOW STATUS: Customers can view and track their electric service status from the outage map using their street address number and phone number on file with CWLP. DRIVE NOTE: Traffic lights could be affected so drivers may want to avoid the area and remember to treat intersections with flashing light as a stop sign.
