Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Our Friends of Sangamon County Animal Control Dog of the Week is a strikingly handsome boy in search of a loving home.

Introducing Astro, a 1 1/2 year old Catahoula mix. Check out his beautiful brindle coat and blue eyes. Astro came in as a stray not long ago.  This nice young dog walks pretty nicely on a leash and is friendly with people and other dogs. He loves to howl a hello to other dogs while being walked by our volunteers.

The kennels at Sangamon County Animal Control and Adoption Center are completely full and more dogs arrive every day. The dogs are in desperate need of adopters and fosters. If you’re thinking of adding a new member to your family or even if you can help out by fostering please come visit the shelter soon. You can meet all of the available dogs during shelter hours Monday-Friday 10:30-4:15 and Saturday 9:00-1:00.
