Springfield, IL (WAND) – Important update for visitors to the Springfield area, as the Lincoln Home National Historic Site is closed until further notice.

Visit Springfield shared in a Facebook post Wednesday that the grounds of the 16th president’s home neighborhood will be open for outdoor visits.

The Visitor Center and home tours are unavailable at this time.

“This beloved site, where President Abraham Lincoln once lived, the only home he ever owned, stands silent for now. But even in this moment of pause, the spirit of Lincoln and the history he represents remain deeply woven into our city,” Visit Springfield said in the post.
