Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Another year with a wide variety of music.

That’s how the next season of the Levitt AMP Springfield Music Series can be best described.  The full lineup was released Wednesday.  See it below.

Shows will once again be on Thursdays starting May 28th, in the former “Y Block” downtown.

“We’ve got Americana, jazz, bluegrass, I’ve got psychedelic funk, so if you think of, like, a Stevie Wonder style, zydeco, blues,” said Jay Shanle, program director for the event hosted by the Springfield Area Arts Council.  “Afro-Carribbean, with some Latin influences…(and) this kind of alt rock, and there’s indie pop.”

Series program director Jay Shanle spoke Wednesday on the WTAX Morning Newswatch.  He says the philanthropy behind the music series has come a long way, and now encompasses the whole country.

“The Levitt Family Foundation updated their information this year.  Levitt exists in all 50 states, in over 100 communities,” said Shanle.  “That includes Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, D.C. is even on there as well.  They have an amazing footprint — a full footprint — across our entire nation.”

Concerts are free, Shanle says, and they include food trucks, opening acts, a “kids kickoff,”and more.
