Lincoln, IL – (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – support from donors to the Lincoln Memorial Foundation (LMF) has enabled Lincoln Memorial hospital (LMH) to provide lifesaving breast cancer screenings for eligible women throughout Logan County. These screenings were completed during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which falls in the month of October.

According to a recent press release provided by Memorial Health, 366 mammograms were conducted and 29 of which were done for free through the Mammogram Mondays Program, which is fully funded by the generous donor support given to LMF.

The screenings gave essential care access to un-insured or under-insured patients who may have otherwise not been able to afford a screening, and a total of 4 patients had discovered that they actually had breast cancer. This highlighted the vital role early detection plays in saving lives.

Sarah Helm, the Director of LMF, stated in this press release “Mammogram Mondays are one of the most impactful ways our foundation donors make a difference. Their generosity ensures that every woman in Logan County has access to this essential screening, regardless of their financial situation.”

The Mammogram Mondays Program strongly reflects the commitment by LMH to improve community health through powerful preventative care.

In the same press release, Tamar Kutz, President and CEO of LMH, commented “Because of our donors, lives are being saved right here in our community. These results show the power of local giving and the lasting impact it has on the health of our community”

The Lincoln Memorial Foundation continues to welcome donations to sustain programs like Mammogram Mondays and expand access to preventative care for all who are in need. You can make a donation at the Memorial Health Donation website online and help continue to keep these great programs alive.
