Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The DMV on Dirksen Parkway, which closed in 2022 for renovations, will reopen May 5 as a new Flagship DMV location. Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias made the announcement Thursday.
The new 42,000-square-foot facility will consolidate services from three other Springfield locations. The DMV on Klein Street and the Vehicle Services Department in the Howlett Building will close Friday. The Wabash Avenue DMV location will close May 3.
Giannoulias said the upgraded flagship location will offer a modern look, faster service, and shorter wait times. It will also feature a Fast Lane kiosk.
