Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – It’s Illinois State Fair season, which means it’s time to get all your favorite fair foods and desserts. While making the rounds at the fair, you can also go to the dairy building and learn how our dairy products get produced and brought to us. All this was announced by Kendra Anderson of the Midwest Dairy Association.

The delicious “Flavor of the Fair” makes its return to the menu for the 4th year in a row.

“We’re especially excited to bring back the ‘Flavor of the Fair’ milkshake for its fourth year. This year’s flavor is sure to be a crowd favorite: ‘Cruising Candy Crunch.’
Fairgoers can choose rich and creamy vanilla or chocolate milkshake layered with colorful candy chocolate pieces for a fun nostalgic treat, inspired by the Illinois State Fairs theme: ‘Miles of Smiles.'”

Not only is a themed milkshake back on the menu, but all the other classics and favorites will be back as well.

Along with our featured shake, we’re also going to have our classic vanilla, chocolate, strawberry milkshakes, and fan favorite from last year, cookie dough,” said Anderson.
”We’ll also have soft serve ice cream cones, cold milk, and our always popular cream puffs. And speaking of strawberry shakes, we’re proud to source our strawberries locally again this year from flam orchards in Cobden, Illinois.”

Not only do fairgoers get these delicious treats, but they also get the opportunity to learn about dairy at the dairy building,

“Beyond the delicious treats, we invite everyone to explore the Dairy Building,” said Anderson. “Fairgoers can learn how dairy does more throughout the building.
The dairy building will feature family friendly exhibits, hands on learning opportunities, and great photo ops. Visitors can follow the self-guided Dairy Does More Discovery Trail, completing three interactive stats that showcase how dairy supports nutrition, sustainability, and animal care.”

The 11-day run of the Illinois State Fair starts Thursday.
