Decatur, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Police in Decatur say they have arrested a man they have been looking for over a ten day period after he allegedly stabbed a woman and two teenage children.

Macon County Jail records indicate Latonian Johnson, 50, was booked Friday night, after being wanted on a warrant charging him with Murder and Attempted Murder.

Our news partners at WAND-TV report it all started August 20 outside a home on East Main Street in Decatur, after police say he got into an argument with Dawnette Sigmon, 38, stabbing her.  Police believe when Sigmon’s two children, ages 14 and 16, tried to help their mother, they were also stabbed.

Sigmon was pronounced dead, while the teens survived.  No word on their conditions.

There’s also no word on when Johnson will make a court appearance, but it likely will be in private because of the Labor Day weekend.

Police say Johnson suffered self-inflicted wounds that were treated at a local hospital before he was officially arrested.
