Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The Dana-Thomas House in Springfield is set to receive $6.6 million for restoration and repairs. The Frank Lloyd Wright-designed home at 301 E. Lawrence Ave. is a state historic site and will undergo water management, roofing and security upgrades. The white cottage on the site will also receive improvements through an additional $750,000 in funding.

The funds come from the Rebuild Illinois capital plan and are part of a recent allocation of $60 million in funding to address deferred maintenance projects for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

Other sites set to receive funding including the following:

• Hennepin Canal Parkway State Park
• Starved Rock State Park
• Lake Murphysboro State Park
• Volo Bog Natural Area

“By investing in these projects, we are not only supporting economic growth in several rural areas, but also ensuring our state parks and historic sites remain accessible for years to come,” said CDB Executive Director TJ Edwards. “These projects are a testament to our commitment to Illinois’ residents and the natural beauty of our state.”
