Crime of the Week:  Help needed solving Springfield shooting

Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – This week, Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a shooting.

On August 8 around 1:30 am, deputies were called to the 1400 block of Chalmers St in Springfield, in reference to a report of shots fired.   Upon their arrival deputies discovered a male victim with two gunshot wounds.

Video shows a vehicle, a four door sedan, fleeing from Chalmers after the shooting traveling north on 14h St.  Images of the vehicle can be found on our website. If you have any information regarding this incident or can identify the suspect(s), call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 217-788-8427, submit a tip on our website, or use the P3 app. If your tip results in an arrest, you could receive a cash reward up to $2,500.
