Crime of the Week: Help needed identifying Southern View robbery suspect

Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – This week, Crime Stoppers is seeking to assist the Southern View Police Department to identify an individual reference a robbery that occurred in the 3300 block of S. 6th Road, in Springfield.

On May 1, 2026, at approximately 5:30 p.m., a black male suspect wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and red pants approached an individual and asked for money for a ride. When the victim attempted to assist, the suspect battered the victim and stole more than $1,000 before fleeing the area.
