Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln (CFLL) has another year of offerings. They are giving out grants to small business owners and have a scholarship opportunity as well.

If you own a small business, and your company runs operations for bettering senior citizens, you can now apply for a business grant to assist in your business growth. These are grants solely aimed at those organizations that assist those fifty-five years old or older.

“Organizations who serve Senior’s, age fifty-five and older, in Sangamon County can apply for up to 25,000 dollars each, for any sort of programming to help seniors.” said Stacy Reed, Chief Program Officer for the CCLL, in her interview on the WTAX Morning Newswatch. “This group has awarded such a wide variety of grants in the past. Programs that help with prescription assistance for seniors, rent and utility assistance, food, security, clothing, daily bread, but also fun things that feed your spirit too.” Reed also stated

The Kings Daughters Organization, a local non-profit, sold their home 20 years ago that they owned for senior women, and used the assets from that home sale, to start a charitable fund at the Community Foundation (CFLL).

“Over the course of time that fund has awarded more than 2 million dollars to local organizations” Reed said.

“Parents and students heads up, Scholarships are available now! There are more than 45 post-secondary scholarships available, so take a look and see if anything there speaks to you or your student.” Reed excitedly stated.

To apply, all you have to do is go to the Community Foundation’s Website and fill out an application to get yourself started. If you need assistance or have questions you can reach the CFLL by phone at 217-789-4431 and or can also click ‘Contact Us’ on their website.
