Chain restaurant’s Springfield location closes

Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – What may have been the only Illinois location of a chain sit-down restaurant and eatery is closed.

Signs on the doors of MCL Restaurant & Bakery indicated the Springfield location on Wabash near White Oaks Mall closed as of Friday.  “We Thank You All For The Support Over The Years [sic],” the sign read.

It’s not immediately clear why MCL closed.  E-mails to the Indianapolis corporate office were returned to CapitolCityNow.com as undeliverable.  A corporate phone number doesn’t list information for a spokesperson.

The Springfield location no longer is listed on the restaurant’s website.  All the locations left appear to be in Indiana and Ohio.

It’s not clear how many employees the Springfield MCL location had.
