BLOOMINGTON, Il. (CAPITOL CITY NOW) — Bloomington Police arrested a man Friday for administering abortion medication without the mother’s consent, killing her unborn child.

According to our news partners at WAND TV, police responded to a Bloomington home around 7 p.m. for a pregnant woman having a medical emergency.

After investigating, police said 31-year-old Emerson Evans administered abortion inducing drugs to the woman without her knowledge or consent. She started having medical complications and suffered a miscarriage.

Police found and arrested Evans on two counts of intentional homicide of an unborn child.

“We are again saddened by the alleged criminal actions which resulted in harm to others. It is my hope the mother involved in the matter fully recovers and has the resources and support of this strong community in the future,” said Bloomington Police Chief Jamal Simington.

The incident is still under investigation.
