Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum has announced some special events in honor of the 16th U.S. President’s birthday.

Saturday February 7th, there will be free admission for guests and a day for stories, games, and music for the kids. The Lincolns4Lincoln Literacy Jam runs from 10am to 2pm that day. The ALPLM and the Lincoln Library will partner to provide children’s stories read by special guests, musical performances, and magic tricks. The public is also encouraged to donate books for the Compass for Kids program.

ALPLM Executive Director Christina Shutt says, “Abraham Lincoln loved books and understood their power to change lives. That’s why we celebrate his birthday by encouraging children to read. We hope parents and caregivers from all over will bring their little ones on this special day”.

There will also be free admission on Lincoln’s actual birthday, February 12th.

A special exhibit will also be available to visit. “Lincoln: A Life and Legacy that Defined a Nation” explores his life and impact with important artifacts such as a signed copy of the Emancipation Proclamation.

Additional information is available online PresidentLincoln.illinois.gov.
