Decatur, IL (WAND) – ADM is set to invest $103 million in improvements to its Decatur facilities.

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce announced the investment on Monday.

According to the Office of the Governor, ADM’s investment will create 50 new full-time jobs and keep over 1,000 present full-time jobs.

“We’ll be investing to replace 40,000 control systems across the corn plant, the East Plant and the West Plant with state-of-the-art technology. When we think about protecting what matters and supporting safety, quality and efficiency, this is a hugely important project for us,” said ADM President for North America Christopher Cuddy.

Although ADM could have invested anywhere in the country, its roots run deep in Decatur.

“It means stability for today’s workers, and it builds a bridge of opportunity for the next generation. When a legacy giant like ADM invests in upgrading its local infrastructure, it sends a clear signal to the rest of the world: Decatur is built for the future,” President of the Decatur Economic Development Corporation Nicole Bateman said.

The company’s investment is being supported through the Illinois EDGE program, which provides incentives to companies that expand operations and create jobs in Illinois.

Pritzker said the upgrades will strengthen Decatur’s role as a global leader in agriculture and manufacturing.

We’re helping Illinois job creators expand and invest in our state, from food processing to biofuels, advanced manufacturing to clean energy, quantum computing to life sciences. I couldn’t be prouder that ADM is helping to drive innovation and move Illinois forward,” Pritzker said.
