Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Not everybody dies with loved ones. Camp Butler National Cemetery Wednesday held its semi-annual service for unaccompanied and unclaimed veterans,

“These veterans have been honored these vets have been honored for their commitment and service,” said the cemetery’s assistant director, Christopher Webster. “They freely gave protecting our freedom, and their sacrifices were proudly served and will never be forgotten.”

Unaccompanied veterans had no family to come to a service. Unclaimed veterans had no known family.
