The Sangamon County Republican Central Committee is announcing the opportunity for a Republican to be appointed to fill the vacancy in the office of Representative in the General Assembly for the 99th District, following the resignation of Mike Murphy from this office. The appointee will be entitled to serve out the remaining term of office, which will expire in January of 2023.
Anyone interested must submit an application consisting of a letter of interest and current resume. The letter of interest and resume must provide information about the following points:
· Why I want this position
· What I think I can I do for Sangamon County’s people by serving in this position
· My past participation in local area community activities
· My past participation in Sangamon County Republican political activities
· Work history and other pertinent information
In order to be considered, an application must be received at the Sangamon County Republican Central Committee headquarters by 5 pm on Monday, December 13.

The Representative Committee for the 99th Representative District will choose the replacement for the remainder of former Representative Murphy’s term. Pursuant to Section 8-5 of the Election Code, the Representative Committee for the 99th Representative District is comprised of Sangamon County Republican Central Committee Chair Dianne Barghouti Hardwick, and her appointees Precinct Committee Persons Brian McFadden and Drinda OConnor.
The meeting at which an applicant will be selected to fill the remainder of former Representative Murphy’s term will be held on December 30, 2021 at 7 pm. at Sangamon County Republican Headquarters, 1132 Sangamon Avenue, Springfield, IL. This meeting will be open to the public.
