A portion of I-72 is expected to be closed for the next several hours after a car hit the back of a semi truck Monday morning.
State Police say the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 72. They say 59-year-old James Herring of Lisle was heading westbound in his BMW just west of the Wabash overpass when he lost control, crossed the median, and struck the wheels of a trailer being pulled by a semi driven by 54-year-old Mark Peddycoart of Beardstown.
That caused the BMW to roll on to its side on the right side of the eastbound lanes, and caused Herring to be taken to Memorial Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Charges are believed to be pending.
