Guv in Quincy today

With  little more than two weeks to go in the legislative session, and about six and a half weeks to go in the fiscal year, Illinois’ four legislative leaders and the governor met Tuesday evening.

One thing that came up: the need for a bill to pay for construction at the state veterans’ home in Quincy, where thirteen people have died of Legionnaires’ disease since 2015. Gov. Rauner will be in Quincy Wednesday to announce the next steps in his water treatment plan.

House Minority Leader Jim Durkin (R-Western Springs), urging that the pace pick up, told reporters he believes the state has about $37.8 billion to spend in Fiscal Year 2019, though Senate President John Cullerton (D-Chicago) said the governor wants to reduce the amount given to municipalities and public transportation.
