Coroner IDs teen shot near Southeast High School

Springfield, IL  (WTAX) – The identity of the 16-year-old shot near Southeast High School on Wednesday has been released. Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon says autopsy findings confirm Keyon Day of Springfield died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Day was found by Springfield Police around 8:40 a.m. Wednesday after receiving a call that a person had been shot near the roadway in the 2300 block of Taylor Avenue. Day was transported by EMS to HSHS St. John’s Hospital and was pronounced dead at 9:48 a.m.

Springfield Police say they have issued warrants at three locations and have been questioning multiple persons of interest. Two vehicles involved in the incident have also been identified by police.
