Superintendent: Only One Complaint from District Parents Received over Workbook

Springfield interim school superintendent Bob Hill believes a recent dust-up over a workbook used to teach students the US Constitution is minor and most of the controversery came from outside the area.

“The vast majority of it came from outside the district.  The original concern was concerned by a single parent. As far as I know, he was the only parent to raise issue with the workbook in 14 years” says Hill.

A Facebook posting about the material, that seems to simplify the Constitution, went viral. Hill says the book is no longer in use pending further review from teachers to ensure it is accurate.

The passage in question says the second amendment calls for weapons to be strictly regulated–which it does not–prompting calls from some gun rights advocates.
