Taylor Swift’s upcoming concert in Thailand has been axed amid political turmoil in the country.

Months of political unrest culminated in the Thai military staging a coup against the government and seizing power last week, while all residents remain under a 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew.

The Love Story hitmaker was scheduled to play in Bangkok on June 9 as part of the Asian leg of her Red tour, but the concert has now been cancelled.

Organizers BEC-Tero Entertainment announced the news in a statement, which reads, “Due to recent events in Thailand, Taylor Swift’s concert in Bangkok has been cancelled. This has been a difficult decision for all parties. Taylor, (promoters) AEG, BEC Tero and 13 Management all express regret and sincere apologies to the fans in Thailand.”

Swift also expressed her disappointment via Twitter.com, writing, “I’m sending my love to the fans in Thailand. I’m so sad about the concert being cancelled.”
