Pop star Justin Bieber sent fans into a spin on Tuesday by suggesting he is ready to quit music.

During an interview with Los Angeles radio station Power 106, the “Boyfriend” hitmaker was quizzed about what he had planned next for his career.

Bieber shocked the show’s presenters and listeners by insisting he was going to hang up his microphone and retire.

He said, “After the album, um, I’m actually retiring, man. I’m retiring. I’m going to take some time. I think I’m probably going to quit music.”

Bieber’s reps are yet to comment on the star’s claims, while he has not replied to his hordes of fans on Twitter.com, who instantly began sending him messages pleading with him to reconsider.
